The First Fairmont Xiamen Opens in Fujian
On April 19, 2025, Fairmont Xiamen, the first Fairmont-branded hotel in Fujian Province, officially opened. As a collaborative masterpiece between Xiamen Airlines and ACCOR, a renowned French hospitality group, the hotel embraces the core philosophy of "a classic legend demonstrating southern Fujian." It seamlessly integrates high-quality international service with Fujian's cultural essence, filling a significant gap in the region's high-end hotel market. The opening also marks a new upgrade of Xiamen Airlines' "air-to-ground integrated" service ecosystem, injecting strong momentum into the cultural and tourism development of Xiamen and Fujian Province.
Fairmont Xiamen is located in the Xiamen Cross-Strait Financial Center in the northeastern part of Xiamen Island, adjacent to the emerging business districts of Guanyinshan and Wuyuan Bay. The building's exterior was designed by the team of Norman Foster, a winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. With thousands of Danxia red lattices interwoven across its facade, it resembles a three-dimensional reflection of Mount Wuyi, complementing the blue sea and sky to become a new focal point of the city's skyline. Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by a fusion of Hollywood classic deco art and Nanyang elements, which not only reflects an international aesthetic but also incorporates the delicate charm of Eastern culture.
This landmark building, with a total construction area of 60,000 square meters, features 414 guest rooms and suites, all offering panoramic views ranging from 180° to 270°. Guests can enjoy stunning urban landscapes and breathtaking sea views. The hotel also boasts five distinctive dining venues that combine the essence of Fujian cuisine with global flavors, providing a diverse culinary experience. With over 3,100 square meters of indoor and outdoor meeting spaces equipped with state-of-the-art intelligent facilities, the hotel can meet a variety of needs, including high-end business conferences and wedding celebrations. It has already been designated as the official hotel for the Wanda Diamond League Xiamen Meeting, set to welcome top athletes from around the world.
This is a strategic move by Xiamen Airlines to meet the high-quality cultural and tourism service demands of Xiamen," said Zhao Dong, Chairman of Xiamen Airlines. He noted that as a modern, international city with high quality and high aesthetics, Xiamen has rising demand for international high-end services. Fairmont Xiamen will leverage the synergies of "aviation + hospitality" to create a full-service ecosystem from the skies to the ground, allowing global travelers to immerse themselves in the unique charm of "Fresh Fujian."
Every detail of the hotel reflects the rich cultural heritage of Fujian and the aesthetic collision of an international perspective, blending local Fujianese charm with world-class hospitality service concepts. As Jerry Mong, the General Manager of the hotel, said, "For 118 years, the Fairmont brand has been one of the 'most storied' hotel brands in the world. It has witnessed countless historic moments and inspired many iconic scenes in world-famous films. Now, it brings this legacy to Southern Fujian, and we believe that the century-old brand's DNA will spark new vitality when combined with local culture."
The collaboration between Xiamen Airlines and ACCOR goes beyond brand integration and focuses on the deep fusion of service chains. Zhao Dong emphasized that this hotel, which embodies global wisdom and Eastern craftsmanship, is a key piece of the "Xiamen Airlines' better life" ecosystem. Xiamen Airlines will continue to unleash the synergistic potential between the aviation and hospitality industries, positioning Fairmont Xiamen as a new engine for the international development of business travel in Xiamen and a new benchmark for high-quality cultural and tourism development in Fujian. Leveraging its extensive global route network covering six continents, Xiamen Airlines aims to attract more international travelers to China, helping them understand, appreciate, and fall in love with China.
