That evening, Zhao Dong, Chairman and Party Secretary of Xiamen Airlines, along with Xie Bing, CEO & President of Xiamen Airlines, led a team to visit and greet frontline staff who were on duty. They were joined by Cai Wenwei, Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China's Xiamen Supervision Bureau, on the apron to welcome the safe arrival of the year-end flight. The leaders presented flowers and conveyed their blessings to the flight crew, expressing their gratitude for the flight crew's hard work throughout the year and extending their warm New Year's greetings to them. Meanwhile, Xiamen Airlines' subsidiaries, branches, and overseas overnight bases organized activities to welcome and bid farewell to flights, with staff around the world celebrating the successful conclusion of the 2024 aviation safety year.
Safety is the lifeline of the civil aviation industry and a solemn promise Xiamen Airlines makes to its passengers. In 2024, Xiamen Airlines deeply implemented the important instructions from President Xi Jinping in his letter to all employees, especially the requirement to "establish a strong safety baseline." Focusing on the main thread of safety work - "strengthening responsibility, consolidating foundations, and controlling risks" - the company advanced the construction of six major safety systems and maintained a stable safety situation.
Safety culture has taken deep root at Xiamen Airlines. In 2024, the airline further strengthened its safety culture by enhancing employees' safety awareness and skills. It held forums on the "dual prevention mechanism," sharing safety management experiences, and significantly increased the reward amount for voluntary safety reports to encourage employees to actively report safety hazards. Additionally, Xiamen Airlines organized safety warning days, safety production months, and position drills, conducting 22 sessions of various safety training. These initiatives created a strong atmosphere where "safety is everyone's responsibility."
Technological innovation has been a key pillar in supporting safe operations at Xiamen Airlines. In 2024, the airline bolstered the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. This included upgrading the safety management platform to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Furthermore, Xiamen Airlines advanced the development of a pilot skills lifecycle management system (PLM), completed iterative upgrades to meteorological and flight operation monitoring systems, and nurtured several innovative projects. These initiatives, including pilot fatigue management and full-dimensional data profiling for simulators, have provided robust support for scientific decision-making and significantly strengthened the airline's risk control capabilities.
In 2024, Xiamen Airlines bolstered its fleet with the addition of 14 new aircrafts, bringing the total to 216. The airline operated over 290,000 flights, transporting more than 43 million passengers, and achieved remarkable results in operational efficiency, service innovation, and sustainable development. The network expanded with new domestic and international routes, including direct flights from Xiamen to the Maldives, Fuzhou to Seoul and Jeju in South Korea, Beijing Daxing to Vientiane in Laos, and Hangzhou to Nagoya in Japan. Additionally, routes such as Fuzhou to New York and Quanzhou to Bangkok were resumed. Passengers can now access 112 international airports across 53 countries on six continents. Xiamen Airlines' sincere service has left a lasting impression, with brands like "Tianji Gallery," "Egret Miles," and "Chef XiamenAir" continuing to innovate. Services such as air-rail intermodal transport and comprehensive through-ticketing were also implemented. These efforts have helped Xiamen Airlines win the APEX "World-Class Airline" award for three consecutive years and the "Best Airline" award for ten consecutive years.
Looking ahead, Xiamen Airlines will uphold higher standards and stricter requirements to guarantee safe operations, steadily progressing towards becoming a century-old airline with exceptional performance and stability. The company will contribute more to promoting high-quality development in the civil aviation industry and building a strong transportation nation.
