Fly with You Across the World: Xiamen Airlines Officially Launched the Air-rail Intermodal Transport Product

On July 10, 2024, Xiamen Airlines held the Xiamen Airlines Air-rail Intermodal Transport Product Launch Conference, “Fly with You Across the World: Air-rail Intermodal Transport” at the Xiamen Airlines Carnival Hotel in Beijing. On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, Xiamen Airlines launched the air-rail intermodal product and efficiently integrated the booking systems of it and “China Railway 12306” to achieve seamless connection between flight and train services. Passengers can combine Xiamen Airlines flights and train numbers through one-click order and enjoy a smooth purchase and travel experience.


Xiamen Airlines’ air-rail intermodal product and its services can be summarized into four dimensions, namely “addition, subtraction, multiplication and division”. In terms of product service system, it opened the intermodal transport services in accordance with its hub network strategy of “one axis, two wings, dual-core operation, and three-dimensional linkage” and simultaneously launched the “air-rail intermodal transport” section on “China Railway 12306” APP and Xiamen Airlines APP, providing passengers with an integrated purchase experience, building a global intermodal transport network system for passengers, and achieving “multiplication” of coverage networks. In terms of the product value-added benefits, Xiamen Airlines provides multiple welfare packages for Egret members, including Egret point rewards, special membership benefit packages, and the highly cost-effective product “Egret Air-rail Pass”, helping to “additions” of customer services. In terms of product user experience, Xiamen Airlines has collaborated with multiple entities in the passenger travel chain to launch corresponding heartwarming services in areas such as passenger connection, luggage storage, rest and accommodation, and transfer entertainment, shortening the transport transfer time. Taking the “Free Travel · Air-rail Intermodal Transport” 2.0 in Xiamen as an example, Xiamen Airport set up a urban waiting hall at Xiamen North Station, providing a series of services such as domestic flight check-in, luggage check-in, luggage precheck, rest and waiting, and aviation business consultation for passengers traveling through Xiamen Airport, shortening their travel time, improving their transit experience, and achieving “divisions” in the travel process. In terms of product value orientation, Xiamen Airlines has adhered to the principle of “putting the needs of passengers first”. With the launch of its air-rail intermodal product, Xiamen Airlines can sell its tickets and air-rail intermodal products on 12306 APP, and air-rail intermodal products can be sold simultaneously on its APP, creating a full process service experience for passengers and ensuring every passenger to travel freely with one ticket. The product covers 40 core hub cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Fuzhou, and Quanzhou, achieving two-way intermodal transport for Xiamen Airlines passengers to various domestic cities, and significantly improving passenger travel efficiency. It’s reported that Xiamen Airlines and China Railway 12306 have formulated relevant technical standards in system integration and rapid implementation of intermodal products, which have certain reference significance for the future integration of air-rail intermodal systems. Subsequently, Xiamen Airlines will also promote the sale of the air-rail intermodal product through code sharing for flights of its subsidiaries Hebei Airlines and Jiangxi Airlines, so as to better meet the masses’ demands for higher-quality air-rail intermodal services.
