Requirements for the 72/144hour transit visa exemption policy
Passengers holding valid international travel documents and onward flight tickets with a confirmed date and seat to a third country (region) within 72/144 hours after arrival are allowed to stay in the designated Chinese city area for 72/144 hours without a Chinese visa.
1、Holding valid international documents.
2、Compliance with the condition of entry into the third country (region). Passengers should hold valid visa of the third country (region).
3、Book onward ticket. Foreigners who are citizens of any of the 51 qualified countries must have a confirmed seat on an onward international flight before entering China.
4、Passengers are required to go to a different third country or region. The 72/144hour transit visa exemption policy applies to foreigners who are citizens of any of the 51 qualified countries，going to a third country or region after transiting via one of the Chinese airports approved by the Ministry of Public Security. It is very important to know that the policy requires an itinerary that departs from a country, transit via any of the approved visa-free transit airports in China and head to a different third country or region. For instance, passengers, who depart from Vancouver Canada, transit in Xiamen China and return to Toronto Canada, are not applicable to the 72/144hour transit visa exemption policy.
