If you are travelling to or from Sydney Airport, here are some tips to help make your journey as smooth as possible.

Check-in tips

•   Check-in normally opens up to three hours prior to flight departure, depending on your airline. It is recommended that passengers arrive no later than two hours prior to departure to allow for enough time for check-in, Customs and Border Protection, immigration and security screening and any unexpected delays.
•   Check that you have all relevant travel documentation, including passports and tickets.
•   Ensure you do not exceed your baggage allowance.
•   Once you arrive at the terminal, look for the flight information display screens. These will tell you which check-in counter has been allocated for your flight.
•   Have your ticket and passport ready while waiting to check-in.
•   Check that you haven’t packed prohibited items in your carry-on bags such as scissors or Swiss Army knives. These items are prohibited and will not be permitted beyond the screening point and may need to be surrendered for disposal.
•   International travellers boarding flights in Australia need to be aware of the rules for the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) you can take onboard an international flight. This includes duty free liquids, aerosols and gels such as alcohol, perfume or cosmetics, regardless of where they were purchased before the security screening point.
•   Do not make jokes about bombs or make security threats. This is a criminal offence and the police may be called. As a consequence, you might miss your flight or your airline might not allow you to board your flight.
•   Don’t leave your baggage unattended at any time as it will be treated as suspicious and taken away.
•   It is recommended that passengers clear Customs, Immigration and Security Screening one hour prior to the flight departure time.
•   Passengers requiring special assistance will need to contact your airline in advance, ideally when you book your flight.
•   Passports and Visas for International Travel.
•   ADVERTISEMENT
•   Make sure passports and any necessary visas are valid for everyone travelling, both for the countries you will be visiting and for any transit stops. The relevant country embassies can give you the latest information.
•   Note: Passports must be valid for at least six months after departure for most countries.

Notes:

(A) The maximum dimension for each piece of checked baggage is 158 cm / 62 inches (length + width + height); the maximum dimension for each piece of carry-on baggage is 55 x 25 x 35 cm / 21.5 x 10 x 13.5 inches (length x width x height). Regarding the weight of each piece of checked baggage, the maximum weight per piece is 32 kg for First / Business Class passengers and 23 kg per piece for Economy Class passengers. For other special occasions, the free baggage allowance is subject to specific regulations.
(B) Children occupying seats are subject to the same free baggage allowance as adult passengers in the same class of service.
(C) In addition to the corresponding free baggage allowance, infants not occupying a seat are also allowed to check one folding stroller free of charge.
(D) In accordance with the relevant provisions of IATA Resolution 302, free baggage allowance on connecting flights shall be subject to the standards published by the MSC (Most Significant Carrier)  of the whole itinerary.
(E) Xiamen Airlines Egret Gold / Silver Cardholders, SkyTeam Elite / Elite Plus members are entitled to an additional piece of free checked-baggage, the weight of which shall not exceed 32 kg (in First / Business Class) or 23 kg (in Economy Class).
(F) Overseas students / labor workers / sailors / Immigrants may apply at the time of ticketing for an additional piece of free checked-baggage, the weight of which shall not exceed 32 kg (in First / Business Class) or 23 kg (in Economy Class), after providing relevant documentation. Plus, they must bring their identity documents for reference when checking in.
(G) The weight concept still applies to Xiamen Airlines’ China-Australia tickets issued prior to August 17, 2015.

PUBLIC BUSES

The bus system in Ho Chi Minh City covers most tourism destinations within and nearby the city with 152 routes.  Buses in Ho Chi Minh City can be realized by the white cover with a light green strip. The price for bus ticket fluctuates between 3,000 and 10,000 VND, depending on the distances and the type of buses.

Buses in Ho Chi Minh city might not be as crowded as those in Hanoi, but the problem is the quality of the cars and degrading services.  Moreover, the distances between the bus stops and tourist destinations are pretty far, aggravated by the long time it takes to wait for a bus. That makes this type of public transportation not the best choice to explore the city. Also, Ho Chi Minh City Bus are often named by the beginning and end points, so check your bus number carefully before getting on it.

Most buses in Ho Chi Minh City have their terminal at some major depots like Ben Thanh Station, Cho Lon Station and Mien Dong station. There are a number of buses that run past tourist attractions inside the city such as:

Luggage Storage

Go one level down (the stairs and escalators are right after the immigration) and you’ll find yourself smack dab in the middle of the baggage claim hall. You’ll see the doorway at the northernmost end of the hall, where customs is. Head there once you have your bags in order.

Luggage storage services – If you are just transiting, there is an airport service counter that will keep your bags. You can spot the counter after your arrival exit to your right. There will also be signs pointing your way.  You have to pay 27,5000VND per bag per hour, which is about 1.40USD, so if you leave your bag for 10 hours, it will equate to about 14USD (275,000VND).

Free luggage carts are available at the Arrival Hall, Exit and Taxi Stop for passengers’ convenience.

If you wish to travel to or from the airport by bus, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol offers many direct daily bus connections to the surrounding region.

 

Bus connections

Bus services are provided by Schiphol Sternet, Zuidtangent and Interliner. Most buses run very frequently from early in the morning to late at night, with night buses serving selected routes.

 

Buses will take you to the Amsterdam city center and various surrounding districts, as well as to Haarlem. The Connexxion counter at Schiphol Plaza has all the information you need about bus routes and schedules.

Connexxion bus lines will take you directly to more than 100 hotels in Amsterdam. A bus seating eight passengers leaves every ten minutes between 06:00 and 21:00 from bus stop A7, adjacent to Arrival Hall 2. You will never need to wait longer than 30 minutes before the bus leaves for your hotel. Make sure to arrange your return trip at least two hours before departure from your hotel.

For passengers who would like to apply for Visa on Arrival to travel in Thailand, there are two service counters provided by Suvarnabhumi airport before reaching to the Immigration on 2nd level. The details and required documents are listed as follows:

Travel Tips

Please take note that traffic in Manila is heavy so come to the airport 3 hours earlier before flight departure. For those who will be coming from any domestic flight back to Manila before their outbound flights, allot a longer transfer period or layover time before your international flight schedule to prevent issues on not being able to catch up with the said flight schedule.

Check-in tips

Check - in counter usually opens three hours prior to its flight departure. It is recommended that the passenger arrive at the airport at least two hours prior its departure to have enough time for check - in, immigration, security checks, and any further unexpected occurrence within the airport.
Make sure all relevant documents in order needed for check - in including passport, ticket, and visa are on - hand.
Ensure that you won’t exceed your baggage allowance.
Have your passport and ticket/ itinerary print out ready before entering the departure area and check the flight information display screen to check which counter is assigned for your said flight.
Hand carry items will also be checked by the security at the check - in counter area. Make sure it won’t exceed 5kg. Check whether there would be any prohibited items in your hand carry as these items will be intercepted by the Screening Personnel beyond that point.
Travelers leaving Manila going to any International Route should be aware of the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels on board the flight especially those that have been purchased outside of the airport.
Passengers needing special assistance are recommended to contact the airline in advance, for much serious cases of injury for passengers requesting for Wheelchair, do secure a medical certificate for Fit to Travel from your doctor. As for passengers that are pregnant, do take note of the guidelines before booking your flight.

AIRPORT EXPRESS

The Airport Express takes passengers to Central in just 24 minutes. Quick and comfortable, trains depart at about 10-minute intervals from 05:54 to 23:28 and approximately 12-minute intervals from 23:28 to 00:48 daily.

Passengers taking the Airport Express can enjoy the free In-town Check-in service in Hong Kong and Kowloon Stations to check in between 90 minutes and one full day ahead of their scheduled flight departure time.  

Passengers wishing to visit the Disneyland Resort can change to the Tung Chung Line at Tsing Yi Station, and alight at Sunny Bay Station for the Disneyland Resort Line.

Free shuttle bus service is available, taking passengers from Kowloon or Hong Kong stations to most major hotels and transport interchanges. Passengers can also enjoy free porter service at all Airport Express stations.

Guidelines on Hand-Carry Luggage

On 8 May 2007, Singapore implemented guidelines that restrict the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels that passengers can carry in their hand-carry luggage. The guidelines apply to all flights departing Singapore.
Passengers are advised to check-in all liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) that do not meet the new guidelines. Liquids, aerosols and gels in hand-carry luggage should be packed in accordance with the new guidelines, before passengers arrive at the airport.

1、Liquids, aerosols and gels must be in containers with a maximum capacity of not more than 100ml each. Liquids, aerosols and gels in containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if the container is partially-filled;
2、Containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity not exceeding 1-litre. These containers must fit comfortably within the transparent re-sealable plastic bag, which must be completely closed;
3、Each passenger is allowed to carry only one transparent re-sealable plastic bag, which must be presented separately for examination at the security screening point;
4、Exemptions will be made for medications (accompanied with an original letter from certified medical practitioners), baby food and special dietary items. These items will be subjected to additional checks at the security screening point. Passengers are encouraged to check in 2 to 3 hours before their flight (subject to airlines' requirements).

Liquids, aerosols and gels include:

  • • Drinks, including water and juices

  • • Soups and sauces

  • • Perfumes and deodorants (liquid or liquid-solid mixture)

  • • Creams, balms, lotions and oils

  • • Cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss

  • • Pastes, including toothpaste

  • • Pressurised foams and sprays, including shaving foam, hairspray and spray deodorants

  • • Gels, including hair and shower gels

  • • Contact lens solution

  • • Any other items of similar consistency

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES

Check-in starts at least 2 hours before flight departure. Our Check-in Counter closing time is 1 hour prior to departure. We recommend that passengers check-in at least 2 hours before their flight. You should have your valid passport, air ticket or booking confirmation, and visa (if applicable) before proceeding for check-in and ensure that your travel documents are in order before leaving the check-in counter.
