On the afternoon of January 9, Xiamen Airlines is welcomed by the traditional Water Salute Ceremony in Kota Kinabalu International Airport to celebrate the first flight from Fuzhou to Sabah. This is also the first direct route for Xiamen Airlines to East Malaysia.
As the world famous resort in Malaysia, Sabah is known by the world for its beautiful natural and cultural scenery, enjoying the reputation of “Land Below the Wind”. Famous attractions in Sabah include Kinabalu National Park, Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, Gomantong Cave, Sandakan-Selingan Turtle Park, Sipadan Island and Marble Island. There are also many unknown beautiful sceneries attracting numerous tourists to explore and experience.
In order to enhance Xiamen Airlines’ popularity and expand its market channels in East Malaysia region, Xiamen Airlines and Sabah Tourism Bureau cooperated for such a successful and spectacular ceremony for its maiden flight. He Jingsu from the Chinese Consulate General in Sabah, Datuk Pang Yuk Ming, assistant minister of Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment in Sabah, as well as journalists from nearly 20 newspapers and radio stations are invited to join the ceremony. Before the fight, through cooperation with the Tourism Bureau of Sabah, Xiamen Airlines also invited Xiamen Star TV to shoot a promotional film in Kota Kinabalu, displaying to more Chinese audience the charm of this tourist resort.
Egret’s maiden fight in Sabah indicates that more tourists are expected to date with the blue ocean and clear sky in Sabah through Xiamen Airlines flights, experiencing the magnificence of nature. Three flights are expected to depart from Fuzhou to Sabah per week, served by Boeing 737-800. The specific schedule is as follows (Sabah and Beijing has no time difference):
